Ted Flowers indiana "Junior"
Imagine the memories your family can make with this sparkling Ted Flowers Youth Saddle.
SOLD! Congrats to Lesley D. on her purchase of this beautiful saddle!
The Ted Flowers “Indiana” design saddles featured many diamond shaped conchos in the design. Ted Flowers’ saddle shop was based in Alexandria, Indiana so this design was named after his home state.
You do not come across many “full silver” models in youth size. This would have been a very significant purchase for a serious show competitor. This particular saddle was used for a couple of family generations. From leadline to teens this saddle never disappointed!
This saddle also features Blevins Buckles… so stirrup length could be adjusted for all the various size family members on the show team. If you have any Ted Flowers saddles you will know you rarely see any with Blevins Buckles. Usually you only see them on the higher end custom “Spot Shop” labeled saddles.( In case you are wondering, Blevins Buckles were invented during World War II.) Blevins Buckles make stirrup adjustment much easier than the buckles normally used on these saddles; and you will have much less swearing! It also makes it easy to remove and replace the tapaderos (no need to unscrew bolts).
The other really unique thing is that this saddle features smaller diamond conchos on the top skirt and on the tapaderos! These really add to the visual interest on this saddle and it just absolutely “gleams” in the light. There was a tremendous amount of labor involved attaching all these tiny diamond conchos… they went out of their way to make this saddle extra special!
This set is a well cared for original saddle. The leather looks healthy and has a wonderful patina (many parade saddles are devalued by blackening and shellacking). As car collectors often state.. “You cannot restore original!”
This set includes the saddle, tapaderos, serapes, breastcollar, bridle, silver reins, and a custom made corona blanket. The corona blanket features a genuine wool edge that is very dense and even. Corona blankets of this quality take a tremendous amount of material and labor hours to make… that is why they are difficult to find nowadays.
The bit shown in some of the photos is not included… you will want to find a bit that fits your horse.
This saddle is ready to throw on a horse and ride in a National level horse show; or in your favorite parade. The headstall has been totally rebuilt so it will hold up even with your strongest horse. The strap work on the breastcollar and serapes is new and flexible… so easy to adjust. All the leather tabs (these frequently crack) holding the dangles on have been replaced with new leather. This will secure all the dangles. This is a quality saddle that was appreciated and cared for in its lifetime. All the expensive repairs have been completed. The saddle has been cleaned, conditioned and polished.
The saddle lining is in good clean condition. This saddle was never left out in the barn to turn moldy (nobody wants to display a moldy saddle in their home). This saddle displays beautifully and is an unusual piece to add to your collection.
Experienced collectors know you are “money ahead” when you purchase a parade saddle that does not need $ in repairs to get it “right.” This is a truly ‘turn key” saddle. Imagine all the great photos you can get with your kids and grand kids as they enjoy this rig!! If you don’t have a Youth saddle in your collection… here is THE opportunity to add a great one!
